What You Need To Do To Remain Secure On The Internet

By Albert Q. Swizer

There was a world famous conference held recently, chaired by experts from all areas of technology. It was funded by an international group to determine what had been the most productive developments of technology in the past hundred years. The purpose of the meeting was to try and shape public policy and public opinion in the future.

After they spent several days going back and forth and round and round, they came up with what they decided was the most obvious answer. In the past century, the greatest, most practical and most broadly used technological invention is the Internet. The Internet exists today in virtually every country on the globe, in spite of only being "invented" just a few decades earlier. No other invention has spread so rapid, to so many folks.

There is a virtual plethora of reasons why the Internet is the clear winner when it comes to usefulness and popularity. Academic researchers use to augment their studies and share information with their colleagues. Commerce leaders and politician use it to hook up with their constituents and customers one a one on one level. The regular surfer, just like you and me, is always discovering new ways to use the Internet for our entertainment needs.

However, this well-known group of scientists pointed out that with massive advancements and capabilities of the Internet, there is still a large amount of risk when you connect to the Internet. Just like in the days of the wild west, there are very few rules and regulations. This makes it relatively easy for companies and individuals to make and proliferate software lacking the best intentions.

Adware, spyare and other malevolent software is an example of the terrible things you can find on the Internet. They are terrible because they offer absolutely no value to you at all, but they can quickly weaken your computer's resources, making it virtually impracticable to even send a text message. If you've ever downloaded one of these rogue programs by accident, you know how utterly terrible and frustrating they can be.

Fortunately, there are plenty of software programs developed specifically to thwart these evil entities. Anti virus programs are rapidly becoming just as required as a dead bolt on the front door of your house or apartment. Standard updates will keep your computer protected and sound, and your Internet experience fund and beneficial, just the way it was meant to be.
